Hello again… I wanted todo a post on my method of correcting and concealing. I get that everyone has their different way of do so, but this my way and it has helped me through the most awkward times.
<<< ----As you can see there is a before and after picture. Not too bad…? I think that I can go do laundry without concealer…. but on any other day, under eye discoloration can really change the way you look and feel for the day…. With that said, lets start with moisturizing.
I just recently began getting into eye creams…but I am loving these two--> Kiehl’s, as far as I am concerned, is just a moisturizer for the undereye.…and it does MOISTURIZE. With Olay, I do notice a difference within 2 days, especially if I use it day and night…my under eyes look brighter. Both, once on, definitely change the application of the corrector and concealer…they glide on smoother and they last longer without creasing.
Just a side note; Olay also has a bit of a sheer tint, and small shimmer..which is great for under makeup… sometimes I skip the corrector when I slap on Olay!

Next is
CORRECTING. My favorite, longtime love is the Bobbi Brown Corrector. I already have my back up in the fridge…A recent discovery has been “a darker concealer
….who the f**k knew?   I bought the Studio Finish in NW30, last summer by accident…I meant to get NC30…anywhooo…I never bothered to return it, but I am glad I never did. The Studio Finish Concealers are MY FAVORITE!! I have 3 different shades, that each serve a different purpose…You can even see how close in color the Bobbi Brown and Mac Concealer are…. A drugstore option is definitely, hands down Revlon Photoready Concealer. It’s such a nice, creamy concealer and opaque…I have this medium, which is a dead on match to the rest of face…the only thing that steers me away is the shimmer that it has…but they are only noticeable if someone is completely “all-up in your

<< --For blemishes I use this bad boy…I love this, I don’t have another one I can compare it to…but it does the job covering up any redness. Maybelline has a stick form and Makeup Forever, and MAC has their version in a palette form.

Concealing is next…sometimes I skip concealing and use whatever foundation I am using at the time to conceal…that’s more for times that I really don’t feel like highlighting/contouring or it may seem inappropriate… But when I do conceal I love to use the Prolongwear in NC20, which is 2 shades lighter…I don’t think they make NC25 for Prolongwear…When I am tanner I use the Studio Finish in my winter shade, which is NC30. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind is a drugstore option (I just LOVE Maybelline, favorite drugstore brand!!)…I have actually enjoyed this concealer….

The picture depicts where I place my corrector (pink) and concealer (yellow). I only place the corrector where I ONLY NEED IT. As for the concealer, I love to do the “Kardashian” method, not overly done but a subtle version of it. I love to use the Real Techniques Domed brush and my fingers to blend…. For blemishes, I apply a small amount of the green corrector after I have applied my foundation…then with a beauty blender I tap some foundation over…
Finally….I SET IT!! I don’t have a Holy Grail powder, still searching…but I have been LOVING MAC’s Prep +Prime…All you need is a very small amount and gently tap or swipe the brush over the areas that have been concealed. This keeps everything together ALL DAY!!

And that’s really all in a nut shell…

What are your favorite ways of concealing??

L’Occitane’s Supple Skin Oil

My obsession began when I couldn’t decide what to get for my mom on mother’s day. After soooooo much over-thinking, I decided to research the L’Occitane brand and was able to find a few nice things. As I was getting ready to check out, I came a cross the Almond Supple Skin Oil…..
The box gives a brief history lesson on the ALMOND NUT and the benefits that it has, as well as an indication for what the oil is for. It’s mostly targeted for women who are pregnant to prevent stretch marks, as well as for anyone who is loosing weight…end result; ”Skin is firmer and smoother.”
The idea behind this really seems like the perfect product, but I didn’t buy it for that….I bought it because of the LOVELY SMELL!!!
If you love WARM, COZY scents that are rich with Almond…you will love this. I especially love putting this on at night before going to bed…it’s just a really NICE relaxing scent. Now if I see any firmness happening, that would be an added plus…but I am not really expecting such a miracle…I just bought it for the smell!!
As for the price….yes, it’s pricey!! Too pricey for my taste, I rather spend my money on the next “IT” foundation…but that’s a habit I need to stop too….
So, because it’s a bit pricey I like to mix it with a Odorless lotion, or while my skin is still wet so it can spread much quicker and easier on the skin rather than resisting and having to over-use…
I already know that I will repurchase this, I see it becoming a staple….but will be used sparingly….

Happy Memorial Weekend !!!

My Complete Foundation Round Up !!

It’s only been 5 years, since I decided to take that voyage into the Beauty World. I am not saying that I never fooled around with makeup, I was just more of a Anti-Shine/Anti-Red POWDER girl with some sheer LIPGLOSS and it really began from there. At that time I believe I was only using the Covergirl Translucent Compact Powder, and it wasn’t cutting it for me. I needed something with a little more longevity and a friend (at the time) referred me to Benefit’s Get Even. That was my first trip to Sephora and the biggest mistake of my life…I then discovered MAC, another mistake just because I was buying every collection that was coming out at the time…and if you know MAC, it’s a weekly release of (sometimes) overhyped products…but I still love them! Finally came the death of my wallet, the discovery of a HUGE BEAUTY COMMUNITY on the INTERNET!!
Since then all my beauty advice and decision making has stemmed from so many different point of views, thanks to the WEB.

With that said, it’s safe to say that I have OVER-Accumilated too much makeup!! Most that I have given, donated, swapped and eventually tossed away…I have just recently become comfortable with my own limits as well; I know already the products that I use the most and the least or hardly ever and that helps me tame the shopping down, unless it’s a NEW FOUNDATION!!

Foundation is my chocolate, my kryptonite, that most NEEDED cup of coffee in the morning, MY ideal MUST HAVE product!!

In addition to the long intro (really sorry), I’d love to give a quick description of my skin typeVERY OILY in the summer and Combination to Oily in the winter. Though I have a “pinkish” face, the rest of my body has a Yellow-Undertone. Some Acne, one or two during my period and I do have large pores around my t-zone area (my oiliest part of my face).

I think that I am just going to conclude this with a list of all the foundations including shades and whether they have met my needs…. and one more thing, as a reference I am a NC 30 in MAC’s Prolongwear Foundation.

Lets’s begin:

  • Mac Studio Fix - NC30 - (Oxidized) First foundation, due to it’s popularity amongst the OILIES, but not me…the smell was a turn off, a heavy paint smell…and it was starting to break me out….
  • Yves Saint Laurent Teint Resist Longwear - 5 Peach - (Too light, 6 would have been better) Very heavy for me and I broke out…
  • Armani Luminous Silk - 5 - (too light) It’s a shame because I really liked this foundation, I would use the MUFE Mat Velvet + to mix to make my perfect shade…FLAWLESS!
  • **Makeup Forever Mat Velvet + - 60 and 30 - I use them only for mixing my foundation (60 is used for foundations that are too light and 30 for foundations that are too dark or just shade darker) and they do the job and I notice a difference in the foundation once mixed….it kinda makes the foundation, dare I say, better…These are staples and I will repurchase for that purpose!
  • Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer - Bisque - (Perfect Match) Not too crazy about it, but I did love how it smelled.
  • Nars Sheer Glow - Punjab - (Perfect Match) I was really upset about this one, I really wanted this to work for me, but it was a FAIL!! Separates, and slides into my laugh lines and collects around my nose within an hour…second WORSE foundation that I have ever owned.
  • **Mac Prolongwear - NC30 - (Perfect Match, on the button) Love this foundation, lives up to it’s name. Lasted all day on my oily skin…I just don’t think I would repurchase, but it’s good to have options…
  • **Chanel Perfection Lumiere - B30 - (Perfect Match) I LOVE this foundation and I would repurchase! I think that says it all, besides how luminous yet matte my skin looks, the illusion of flawless skin it gives…Just love everything about this foundation….fair warning, it does darken a bit after applying…but it works for me…
  • Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua - B30 - Oxidized and melted within an 1 hour, I hated how it felt on my skin… Overhyped….complete FAIL!!
  • **Dior Diorskin Forever Fusion Wear - 021 Linen - (Perfect Match) It’s ok, but it does not wear long at all. It starts to separate and cake up within a few hours. Does work well when mixed with a drop of Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair…
  • **Chanel Mat Lumiere - 30 Cendre - (Perfect Match) This was tricky, I had to play with it before actually stepping out the door with it on. My skin is oily, but I always prep my skin with primers and moisturizers and what nots…but for some reason, it never worked on my ‘prepped skin’, the result was a DRIED SPONGE…you could see ALL MY DRY PATCHES…Then I tried on with a heavy moisturizer and I also changed the primer, and it was slippery mess within an hour…so, I don’t know what to say…I’m still trying to figure it out, but I think I might just let this one go…somewhere far…
  • Dior Diorskin Nude Skin-Glowing MakeUp - 021 Linen - (Perfect Match) I really liked this foundation, but only when it was mixed with Murad’s Essential C Day Moisture or Estee Lauder’s ADR…it reminded me of Nars Sheer Glow foundation when it was used on it’s own…
  • **Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer - Alaska - (Perfect Match) Favorite everyday, but for the colder months only…
  • **Mac Face and Body - C3 - (Perfect Match) I really like this foundation too, but it’s more suited for the colder months…
  • **MAC Mineralize SkinFinish Natural - Medium Plus - Not the greatest, I feel it can lean more pink on me, but it’s a great alternative to liquid especially during the hot summer days…I just top it off with Mac’s Blotting powder and it does last for a decent amount of time…***(I am looking for a new, better version of the MSF, would love any recommendations for a powder that controls oils but that’s not so matte on the face)**
  • Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation - 52 - (Perfect Match) another Nars Sheer Glow effect, it melted off and starts to collect in my laugh lines, chin and nose area….
  • **Revlon Colorstay Whipped - 320 Warm Golden - (Perfect Match) I love this foundation. I am happy that I gave into the hype, because I wasn’t going to buy this due to my bad luck with Drugstore foundations…but I have to say, drug store makeup isn’t what we remember growing up as teenagers…It’s long wearing, doesn’t slip or slide and it looks more and more beautiful throughout the day…would repurchase!!
  • **L’Oreal True Match Lumi - W3 - (Perfect Match) Another drugstore find. I never thought I would be matched to 3rd lightest shade…but I am. Perfect match and a great everyday foundation, but I do mix it with Estee Lauder ADR or Murads Essential C Day Moisture, I feel that adding any of the 2 to the foundation really changes the application and the wear (in general to all my foundations, but…) for Lumi, it really makes my skin very glowy and healthy, almost perfect!!
  • Jouer Matte Moisture Tint - Nude - (Perfect Match) Disliked it the minute it touched my face…there’s nothing MATTE about it, that was confusing for me….I will say that it was “light”, but not for me …not for my oily skin….
  • Kat Von D Lock it - 54 - WORSE EVER!! (shade 52 would have been ideal) I think I am more angry at the fact that there’s a waiting period, because it’s always SOLD once it was available I jumped on the opportunity to buy it…..but it is the WORSE thing on this earth!! Once I had it on, I wanted to wash it off right away. It had a heavy smell, reminded me of Mac Studio Fix..just a heavy “paint” smell… Overhyped, not worth the wait and definitely not long lasting or matte…I was a grease ball within minutes…FAIL….MAILED IT RIGHT BACK TO SEPHORA!!
  • Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Tinted Balm - SB03 - (no picture/Perfect Match) I like this foundation, it held up really well on a night out..but a bit drying. I didn’t see anything special about this foundation…so I returned, because I felt I had (too many and ) similar foundations…but I already said, once I completely down size, I will definitely pick this up again!!!
  • Armani Maestro Fusion Foundation - 5.5 and 6.5 - (no picture) 5.5 was too light and pink, and 6.5 was just a tad darker then my skin and looked pink too…I didn’t want both foundations. I just wanted one that matched, but neither did…so I just returned them…hopefully Armani will expand there shades for this line…with that being said, I really liked this foundation…just was UNMATCHABLE!
  • Estee Lauder Double Wear Light - Intensity 2 - (PERFECT MATCH/no picture) I was given a sample of this, by a really good friend….mind you this is the old formula, (Estee Lauder has done a complete Overhaul of their Double Wear foundations,  removing the “SPF”[because it turns out that SPF 10 is really nothing and will do nothing to shield you from the sun], as well as tweaking old shades and adding new ones)…so back to the old formula, this was the PERFECT FOUNDATION…I thought that I was done looking until I found out about the changes they did…so that has changed my mind…eventually I do plan to get match, but I’m just going to hold off for now….
**foundations that I have kept

I know this may seem sick; why would ONE person have sssoooo many foundations? I DON’T KNOW…I’m just not satisfied, and if there is something else out there that promises me what I really want my foundation todo, then I am going to bite that bullet and get it! But I have been good…I have been returning any product that completely flunks …

P.S. The worst part is that I forgot to include 3 other foundations; Laura Mercier Silk creme in Bamboo Beige, Hourglass Immaculate Liquid to Powder foundation in Light Beige, and Makeup Forever HD in 123….but they are really new, so I’m just testing them out….but Hourglass is winning my heart in a big way, move over Double Wear Light and Perfection Lumiere!!!

That is it, my last thoughts, and this is the longest post I have done…I hope that I didn’t bore anyone…would LOVE to hear your feed back and any foundation recommendations…

Thanks Anna for the idea….

The Worst of April…. and Facing Facts….

Hello, I hope everyone’s April was exciting and fun….

For the month, I decided to do something different in remembrance of April. Instead of talking about something I loved during the month, I will talk about something that I DID NOT LOVE during the month.
This is a product that rules the MUST HAVES OF MUST HAVES in any beauty guru’s posts and/or on youtube…and just like any SUCKA, I was sucked into the hype of this product; which is NARS LAGUNA bronzer.
I have had this bronzer for about 2-3 Years. I get that makeup does expire, but I do take care of my makeup and refrigerate them if I have to….now, back to Laguna…I have had this bronzer for a while and every month or so I take it out to give it a try. I can say that it looked nice ONCE, and I remember that day too. I thought that, this was it…finally it works for me, and when I tried to recreate the look the next day it looked horrible.
I guess the way to describe how it looks on me is “DIRTY” and I can never blend it enough, it’s UNBLENDABLE!! This is the first bronzer that I have had the worse time with.

I just don’t get it. I just don’t get Nars. I have had bad luck with NARS. Their blushes never apply evenly on my skin (except for Luster, but that may be because it is a bit sheer), their foundations (though I do like their tinted moisturizer) slip off my face and collect in my laugh lines, the matte lip pencils was such a sad fail. I really wanted to LOVE the matte pencils, but the spark wasn’t there.
The Debbie Harry Palette, was so so disappointing…they completely made me feel bad for the lady and the fans. She is an icon who deserved a better pigmented palette/a thought out tribute!! They failed Andy Warhol and Debbie!!

That was my worse for April and a break through for me. I have held on long enough to Laguna and it needs to find itself a new home!!

Any mutual feelings, please share them below…would love to hear them!!

He’s the BIG 1 !!

This guy has been such a trip, a joyous adventure….a huge pain in my ASS!!!
All in all, he has become apart of my little (hopefully growing) family!!
Happy Birthday SUNNY!!

I wanted to actually bake him a small banana(favorite fruit)cupcake, but I instead slapped peanut butter on a slice of potato bread, and put banana slices on top….don’t know if you can see it in this photo, but he’s drooling!!!

Time to move on…Time to share…

I am going to dedicate this to the makeup that just doesn’t get any love…at all!!
Within the past 2 years I have accumulated A LOT of makeup(at least I think so). Mostly impulsive buys, but as I sit here and try to find the right words, I realize that there isn’t any “RIGHT WORD” to describe the craziness of my stash.
I have too many foundations, lipsticks, and powders. None that have been ‘WOW’ factors for me and I am not really the type to keep things around and use it just to finish it. If I am not happy with something, why should I even force myself ….
Mind you I have returned a ton stuff back to their stores, and I have swapped through Makeup Alley(which is such a risk, because you can get swap lifted, happened twice to me.). Now I am trying something different. Donating!

Found a couple of places in New York that do except donations of gently used or new makeup, and I am actually excited about the idea. It just feels right…

Listed below are places that except donations for the prom for high school girls, due to the Sandy storm or due to poverty, they are just unable to afford the things that a girl needs for her prom. As well as for women, who are homeless and living in shelters, and just need the right tools to help find jobs and feel good about themselves.

So, if you are from NY and have tons of makeup, more than you can handle laying around, then please consider donation as an option…..

Prime time…my small collection & fav of the bunch

I am not too crazy about having to prep my skin every single time before applying my foundation, but it’s the only way my makeup will last on my VERY VERY OILY skin.
So, what is a primer and does one need a primer? It’s definitely a question that I am still trying to figure out….I guess it just depends on ones skin….

The dictionary definition of a primer is a substance used as a preparatory coat on previously unpainted wood, metal, or canvas, esp. to prevent the absorption of subsequent layers of paint or the development of rust. In beauty language; a substance used as preparatory coat on a clean face/area to help prevent rust a.k.a. foundation meltdown!!!

I don’t have a massive collection of primers, but these are the ones that I have tried and still not completely convinced that they are doing what they claim they should be doing….but I do have 2 favorites, and I combine them to achieve the flawless, long-wearing look.

So lets begin with an oldie, Smashbox PhotoFinish Light. This primer has been in my life from the beginning of my beauty life. This is my third bottle, I first purchased it when it was still available in a pump form(really wish they hadn’t change the packaging). I do love this primer, because I always go back to it, but there’s a very thin line between love and hate. What I do love about this primer is that clears any redness on my skin, for some reason my face is just way redder and pinker oppose to the rest of my body that’s more yellow tone….it really tones down my redness, creating that blank canvas. What I do not like about this primer, just with anything else when used too much it doesn’t work the same all the time. I have purposely ventured out to other primers just to give my smashbox a break from my skin.

Next is my favorite, Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch. It is a key primer during the colder months when the skin tends to become a bit more dryer. This helps prevent any evil dry patches from popping up when wearing a foundation. I use this in conjunction with my milk of magnesia (read more on milk of mag) which gives my the ultimate flawless face, my go-to combo for special events and nights out.

The next one up is Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer. I bought this after reading soooo many good things about it. It’s NICE. That’s all I can really say. My foundation does last longer but I always notice a white cast peeking through my foundation….don’t know why, maybe because of the SPF that it contains? Unsure about why that happens, but it happens…

Benefit THE Porefessional is my next one, a very popular one and I needed to try it out. I picked this sample up during a Sephora run and I was immediately convinced about the hype. I don’t really use it all over my face, I tend to pat it on the areas where my pores are a bit bigger than normal. I also never use this alone, I always use it on top of another primer.

Finally, MONISTAT’s Chafing Relief Powder-Gel. I bought this after reading how great of a primer it is, how it has the same ingredients as Smashbox Photofinish primer and how it’s half the price….that’s enough to get me going crazy! I knew I had to have it, if the claims were true!
UUuummmm….total fail! This did nothing, my makeup started melting off within one hour….

So that’s really it, when it comes down to it I prefer not to wear primer. It just feels like layers and layers on my skin, but unfortunately I don’t have the proper skin to wear foundation without it. My routine always starts with a moisturizer mixed with a drop of Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair (let it sink in), Milk of Mag followed by a primer of choice(let that set in), and then my foundation…Wish it was simpler *tear*……..

SOOOO….What are your favorite primers? Please leave your comments below…

March (Be-lated Favorites)….sorta Ranting…

I have been trying really hard to keep up with monthly favorites, and really trying to train myself by setting a weekly schedule to write….unfortunately life happens and I get derailed…..makes me feel bad…..
I read blogs on a daily basis, and my favorite girls are very concise when it comes to posting…makes me want to really stay on top of my postings, but life never happens that way….
Anyhooooo…onto my belated March Favorites. March was a very short-lived month for me….not a lot of great things happened, but shit was brewing throughout the month and because of that I really didn’t get a chance to experiment with my stash. I have been really wearing and loving the same things lately, but there was one item/brand that really stood out for me. The Real Techniques brushes by Samantha Chapman. Throughout the whole month it was the only thing that made sense to me…. these are the BEST BRUSHES IN THE WORLD!!!
I prefer them over my MAC’s(though I do LOVE them and I will never give them away) and SIGMA. I admit I fell into the Sigma band wagon when the F80 flat top kabuki brush was “the greatest thing” but I realized that maybe it wasn’t for me. Rather than the F80 help apply my foundation, it made it worse and helped accentuate any dry patches. NO MATTER HOW MUCH I PREPPED/MOISTURIZED MY SKIN and I have oily skin. Another problem that I have been having with Sigma is SHEDDING. I honestly don’t’ know whats going on…I care for my brushes and make sure to never get any water within the ferrule and I hang them upside down to dry…NO BUENO, SIGMA, NO BUENO!!
The Real Techniques Buffing brush always gives me the perfect application every time and they don’t shed…hopefully not, but even if they did I would run out and just get new ones because they are ECONOMICALLY WALLET  FRIENDLY!!! Especially when they do the BOGO sales at ULTA or MUY BUENO!!!

A First Time LUSH !?!

I was having one of the most horrible days of my life and I knew I needed a quick pick me up. A trip to the liquor store wasn’t a top choice but it was an option, until I saw another way of being a LUSH(haha)... A LUSH store happened to be in my presence and I knew it was time to fulfill my curiosity for the brand, as well as that pick me up that I truly needed!!!
With the help of a really nice Sales Associate, she helped me pick out two bath items, that I was originally apprehensive about trying, but she did a demonstration. The best demonstration I have ever seen, because of the beautiful end-result.

So here it is my first LUSH products….

My main reason to ever try anything from LUSH would be to try any of their bath care products, and their has been two specific ones that I was dying to get ahold of.
I thought I stick this little FYI in here, just because I thought it was a cute thing that the company does, as well as show appreciation towards their employees and I LOVE that! A lot of franchise companies tend to not care about their workers, but LUSH (I hope)…well,  every single item comes with a detail sticker letting us know who was the hardworking citizen that made the product or put the product together. Go LUSH!!

Moving on to my new buys…..

First up, Turkish Delight Shower Smoothie. I was initially turned off by the smell, because I am not a Rose/flowery scent girl, but once again, it was the demonstration that sucked me in. The nice SA massaged my hand with Turkish Delight, and rinsed my hand with really warm water….and there it was the SOFTEST and BEST SMELLING HANDS I HAVE EVER HAD. I am not even kidding you about how soft my hands became….I concluded that my body did need this. As for the smell, it was just the perfect ROSE/FRESHLY out of the Shower Soapy smell, and it lasted all day. I just kept on sniffing my hand the whole day, that is how miraculous it smells…..

The next one I got was RO’s ARGAN Skin Conditioner; this actually is the same thing as the Turkish Delight besides the different scent. Both do the same thing , but look very different. Ro’s Argan is more of deep moisturizer for the body, and it smells like Roses, mixed with almond oils….The SA told me, she loves to shave with this one…duly noted.

As you can see Ro’s has more of a nice creamy oil consistency, oppose to Turkish which look like a “smoothie”, hence the name….I guess….

Both have similar instructions of usage; once you shower, you should be able to step away or out of the shower. Then you scoop some with your hand and massage your whole body with either/or….then step back into the shower and rinse with (I prefer) really warm(sometimes HOT) water. It’s just a crazy transformation, my skin feels soooo GOOD!! Even my clothes feel different on….That’s how good this stuff is!!!

For me, this is such a great investment and totally worth the price. Each container, was about 30 dollars and change, I just know that my bill was 73 dollars once everything was said and done.
It has definitely eliminated the need to moisturize right after a shower, which I have a hard time doing….completely lazy!

Thank YOU LUSH for Converting me!! I can’t imagine it ever getting any better than this!!!!

Hair Talk Pt 2/Review : The Sonicglide

I have been really wanting to write this since I received my Sonicglide, but I really want to test this bad boy out before writing my final thoughts.

Top : Maxiglide    Bottom: Sonicglide
For a FULL description and where I purchased, please click SONICGLIDE

As you can see from the above photo, there’s an obvious difference in size. It was made to be lighter and slimmer for convienence. A brand new feature is the “vibration”, which has an on/off button, and this is suppose to help speed up the process of straightening.
on/off button within
 the flat iron

I was completely sold when I first saw the infomercial for the Maxiglide and this is way before the Instyler. It was the fact that it straightened really kinky hair, and I knew that was the flat iron I needed for my hair. My hair type is dry, voluminous , frizzy, and curly/waves. As I have gotten older my curls have become more like waves, my hair has gotten dryer and frizzier. I would spend 2-3 hours in a Dominican hair salon every friday getting my hair done, mind you I had to go Up Town(a.k.a. The Bronx or Harlem, for non-New Yorkers) that trip can turn into a 30-45 minute commute. Basically 4 hours of my day, flushed away…  The Maxiglide has cut that time to 1 whopping hour and has given me the comfort of getting my hair done at  home.

Another feature are the tiny hair pins, which both flat irons have. They help detangle, as they straighten. I don’t rely on the hair pins to solely detangle my hair, I alway finger comb my hair before washing and styling. I find it to be much more healthier than using a brush.
Another feature is the “steam”. Both flat irons have a steam system that allow steam to pump through the glides which helps eliminate heat damage  as opposed to using a constant heat on ones hair.

So, here are the before and after….

As you can the see, the proof is in the pudding. Without a doubt, I knew the Sonicglide would not disappoint. The only thing that I noticed was different between the Maxi and Sonic was the amount of time it took for me todo my hair. I feel like they decreased the heat, and I am not too keen about the vibrating feature. It’s weird, it does straighten faster with the vibration, but not as fast due to the lack of heat. I think I am going to simply store my maxiglide away and use the sonic for now, I rather preserve my original diamond, just incase the sonicglide flops in the near future. As a fan and customer of Maxius, I would have preferred different colors, than the new features….but I am not that disappointed that I would return it.

And yes, I would recommend this to my curly hair girls. You will not be disappointed. It already sold out, and I believe they have restocked on

**Just to be clear, I purchased this with my own money. I am not at all getting paid to endorse this flat iron. It’s just one my favorite tools, that has been underrated and should be recognized as the Greatest Hair Straightener!**

That is it on this lonely friday, if there are any maxi/sonic-glide users I would LOVE to hear what you think of either/or and the new feature and design….

Happy Weekend World!!

Springing into (a) Summer (Tan)

It’s officially SPRING!! My favorite season, fall being second…You feel it in the air, and you see it in the faces of many grouchy New Yorkers as they carry on with a slight smile on their faces…..Yes, Spring is here and the FIRST thing that comes to mind is, TANNING!
To cure my winter-paleness, I have pulled out my favorite bronzers and favorite self tanners.

First up, my favorite NEW self tanner :
Jergens Natural Glow in Fair to Medium skin tones. The company decided to reformulate this bad boy to it’s original idea, hope that makes sense. When the first formula was release, everyone raved about it. It was suppose to be odorless but it just STANK!! The original formula, also had shimmer in it, which I wasn’t too crazy about, but it was the smell that really made it the worse self-tanner I have ever had! So, back to the new formula…Jergens came back with a vengeance, and proved themselves. I love this self tanner soooo much, within 3 days I had a great color and I just purchased a back up because it was sold out for a few weeks at my local Rite Aid ….

Next up;
Clarins Instant Smooth Self Tanning. During the summer, I do try to avoid tanning my face as much as possible. So, I throw this on to even out my face with my body and it’s the only self tanner I trust on my face.

Next up are powder/cream bronzers, mind you these are just my favorite ones from my stash and I can NOT live without them.

First from the bunch, HOLY GRAIL status :
Mac Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium Dark. Ok, it’s not a really intended to be a bronzer, but it’s just a shade darker than my skin tone and it creates the most PERFECT NATURAL WARMTH without looking orange.

Next; my second favorite :
Dior Bronze Matte Sunshine in Amber Matte 003. Unfortunately, it has been discontinued and I try not to use it as often but it’s hard to resist. I would describe this to be a shade darker than the MAC MSFN, just perfect for the summer when I get tanner.

Next, is a bronzer which has been mentioned before in my other posts:
NYX Matte Bronzer in Medium. This was a complete accidental find. I happened to be in Ulta one day, and there it was. I don’t own a lot of NYX stuff, but based on what I already do have, I would suggest not to overlook this brand when you are walking down the makeup aisle. It’s simply a great bronzer for the price and color, and I see myself always reaching for it.

Finally, my baby. The prettiest one out of the bunch :
Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel in Bronze Universal. The most famous out of the bunch. It does the job when I am in a bit of hurry, it may look a bit orangey in the pot but it’s far from orange. It’s just perfect!!

What are your favorite self-tanners and bronzer??

Would love to hear your input, please comment ….

Drugstore finds….

I decided to head to the drugstore today to pick up some necessities, and found un-necessary things…

Jergens Natural Glow self tanner (odorless) : I wasn’t really in a need of a self tanner but I saw that Jergens has released a new version of their Natural Glow self tanners. An ODORLESS version!! Let’s say that I was convinced that I needed this, but just one “but”…it’s not really “odorless”, just smells WAY less than the original version. It’s tolerable. I owned the original version, which was hyped by many, as a “self tanner that doesn’t smell like a self tanner”…after I would apply it, I smelled like a person that just finished working out and wears self tanner!?! To me, it was a horrible smell…but it did a nice job giving me a nice color during the winter days…hopefully, this “odorless” version lives up to my expectations!

L’Oreal Nail Color in Orange you Jealous? : I saw this, and just gravitated towards this color. It’s a bit of a pastel peachy/corally color. I’ve wanted such a color for a while and I was excited to see it. (in the picture it’s side by side with Essie’s Action)Sinful Colors Matte Finish top coat : Another nail varnish that was on my wish list. I know that Essie, Butter London, Deborah Lippmann, and Ciaté make a matte top coat nail varnish but at a really high cost. I just can’t dish out 20 dollars for a nail polish that I’ll proablaly use a few times….just not worth it. I love my 1.99 matte top coat!!
Maybelline Flash Clean Makeup Removing Lotion : Definitely was in a need of a makeup remover, but I wanted something that moisturized at the same time rather than drying. **Will update**

*****UPDATE 3/17/2013: Returned this!! It broke me out into a huge rash and to top things off, it didn’t remove SH*T!!*****

NYX lipliner in Soft Brown :I LOVE NYX lipliners. They are so moisturizing and they last all day. I have already 5, just basic colors…just really GOOD lipliners!! Soft Brown is close to my natural slip shade. I needed a liner of this color because the rim of my lips are very patchy and I wanted to start filling in the empty spaces. Not much, but I thought I’d type up a quick post of my latest finds…Will update, if anything goes wrong…

February Favorites, NEW buys and NO MAC!!!

Hello again,
how is the beauty world treating you??
I wanted to do another monthly favorites with a few NEW purchases. Like everyone else, I am on a buying band, but with limits of course; no MAC(rule #1)!! Not just my only rule, but I think this one rule is going to save me tons of money just because MAC seems to release all these limited edition packaging every other week. So, I decided not to fall for the hype….unless it’s something that “I do not have”. An example would be, the Rihanna collection that will be releasing soon…I already know that I am buying the “RIRI Woo” lipstick and I am hoping it’s exactly like her shade of red that she loves to wear. As far as I am concerned, she just has the Perfect RED lip all the time! I am obsessed!!

On to Favorites:

Skin 79 Intense Classic BB Balm : I have been in search of the perfect BB cream for a while and I didn’t want to buy a HIGH END brand like Dior’s version. I wanted a BB cream from the original creators…This bad boy is pretty pigmented, and all you need is very small amount for your face or you’ll look very ghostly. I only use this mixed with Burberry Fresh Glow, as a concealer/highlighter and it just gives me the perfect “no make up” look.

Tarte’s Natural Cheek Stain in Blushing Bride : I forget how much I LOVE this blush. It’s exactly what the name of the product is, a natural cheek stain. This is the only blush that I do not use any type of bronzer or contouring product.

NYX Illuminating Bronzer in Magnetic : I bought this back in November and I can’t stop reaching for it. I seriously recommend everyone to get ahold of this. I purchased mine through Amazon because I could never find it at Ulta. It’s just a really pretty peachy/corally/highlighting color. Just really beautiful!!!

Wet n Wild in 902 C : I have no idea the name of the this lipstick, but it’s the very popular Wet n Wild lipsticks that have become really famous throughout the beauty community. They are not just good quality, they are also very inexpensive lipsticks. 902C is my perfect matte shade of nude, and I have had this for over a year and I always reach for it, more than my H/E ones.

Bobbi Brown Corrector in Light Peach : LOVE this. I have had this for about 2 years and I have finally hit pan. I do have a backup of it, but I do have other types of correctors that I want to use before digging in to my new BB corrector.

New Purchases:

Dior Addict in 214 Tulle : I have come to a conclusion or a realization, that I am not a fan of heavy/bold lipsticks and I do have a few that are just sitting there….so because of that, I have decided to buy only lipsticks that I will be wearing(rule # 2) and I am obsessed with the sheer lipsticks/lip butters, and this lipstick does not fall short from that description. It’s sheer, moisturizing and I can definitely put this on without needing a mirror.

Jouer Matte Moisture Tint in Nude : I honestly didn’t need another foundation (a rule that I need to really work on) but sometimes I don’t feel like I have found my FAVORITE BASE yet. I picked this up after reading a few beauty blogs and watching some Youtube video’s, and I don’t know what to say….yet. I am still playing around with it, and it’s my first day(today, as I am writing this) wearing it. It’s definitely my perfect shade, and it’s a bit dry and tends to emphasize on dry patches. Exfoliating and a light moisturizer is needed….but I will provide and update…

*** UPDATE 3/13/2013 : JOUER was returned. In my opinion, it was just TOO sheer. My Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer(which I’ve completely finished) has more coverage and is buildable (Jouer was neither). I get some may find Jouer Sheerness to be a GOOD thing, but I like coverage! Another con; IT’S NOT MATTE!!
My final conclusion, I recommend this for girls with GREAT Skin and who just prefer minimal makeup on…******

L’Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions waterproof : I really like the Telescopic line, and I was waiting for a waterproof version to be released in the States, and as soon as one did I went straight to Target and picked it up. I do love it and I wear it with my Covergirl Lash blast fusion, but if I had to choose between the two Covergirl wins!

Favorite Picture :

My little bad boy!! I always try to take a picture of him when he has this, dry lip thing going on, but he never stands still….but I finally was able to snap a picture…doesn’t he look sad??

Please leave comments, I do welcome them…..

HAIR TALK/Belated Valentines Gift….arrived today!! (PT 1)

*Warning: This is a long post*

I know that Valentines day has come and gone, but on that special day the MR. decided to give me an option; money or a gift (of his choosing)? I know it may not sound romantic, but I completely get it(together for 7 years and married for 2) and in my case “MONEY is (always) a Girls BEST FRIEND!!”

So, I took the cash/credit card and hit the pavement running home to order my gift….and today was the day that I got my Valentines gift.
So, what did I get?
Well, I got something that I needed as a backup. It’s definitely an item that I hold close to my heart and love immensely….my MAXIGLIDE(sounds like a dildo’s name, but it’s far from that). It’s a flat iron. Not just any flat iron, it’s the flat iron of ALL flat irons.
It’s the ONLY flat iron that has ever straighten my hair, without having to blow it out.

Purchased through . Came with a storage bag, a full size leave-in conditioner, full size deep conditioner, a brush(I prefer my tangle teazer). A generous sample size of shampoo and conditioner, a temporary straightener solution(which smells amazing) and a small sample of THE END serum (basically a Frizz-Eaze serum, but better).

My hair type is damage/dry, voluminous, curly/wavy, and FRIZZY. I used to go Uptown (NY) in the beginning to straighten my hair by the Dominicans, every week. That would be 2 hours in the Salon, and 25 dollars out my pocket. Considering the price, and what I have heard other girls paying to straighten their hair, 25 dollars is a bargain! Mind you, I would get a deep conditioner, rollers, and the greatest blow out….but priorities change in life and I just couldn’t make my hair appointments anymore, nor dish out the money…
Then I got the Japanese Chemical Straightener, which was a good idea at the time but the upkeep was a pain. Once your hair starts to grow out, you have your curly roots while the rest of you hair was pin straight. At times, it just didn’t feel like it was my hair.

Eventually my hair grew out enough for me to cut off the straight ends and have hair…

After a year of just letting my hair breathe, I really wanted to get back into straightening my hair for the special occasions and during the winter months but I didn’t want to go and sit in a salon anymore….and one lazy SUNDAY morning(I still remember the day), I saw that infomercial that changed my styling needs forever. THE MAXIGLIDE!!

Before, my natural hair on a good day
on a bad frizzy kinda day

most recent picture…

Mind you, I have the original one that came out about 3-4 years ago. (This is way before the birth of the Instyler, and I still don’t understand how this tool became such a hit.)
At that time they had 2 different strength versions of the maxiglide, they had one for normal-fine textured hair and another one for kinky/unruly textured hair. I have the kinky/unruly version. My life has not been the same since….I wash my hair in my OWN bathroom, condition it with my OWN deep conditioners, and I prep my hair with my OWN styling products that only work for me and finally, I get to walk around in my undies and eat a bowl of cereal while straightening my hair….the comfort of being home, and knowing that NO one else's hair has touched MY tools. It’s a great feeling ladies, and that is what the Maxiglide has done for me.

Fastforward 3-4 years, my bad boy isn’t looking as fresh as it did and I figured I had to get a backup, just incase if the unthinkable ever happened…and here it is, my gift….the SONICGLIDE! The newest version from the Maxius brand.
I would have opt’d for same the flat iron as a back up, but unfortunately they have decided to discontinue it. I don’t know why, the flat iron was a miracle and nothing needed to be changed…

Anywhoo…this has dragged on long enough…I will do a comparison between the two, side by side pictures and finally my thoughts on this beauty….

Would LOVE to know your thoughts on the Maxiglide or Sonicglide….

January (belated) Favorites!!

Just wanted to do a quick favorites post, of just products that I’ve been LOVING this past month….
SO, here it is…

Blush : Benefits Coralista
I’m sure everyone has this already and has heard all the great reviews, but it took me along to time to really convince myself that this blush is the bomb! I Love this blush, I try to steer away from it all the time(so I can at least break in other blushes), but I always come back to it. It’s just a really lovely blush….

Eyebrows : Make Up Forever Waterproof Eyebrow Corrector in 3 (First Original Version) + Rimmel’s Professional Eyebrow Pencil in 004 Black Brown
I have a hate and love relationship with MUFE eyebrow corrector. On bad days it looks really fake and “old lady crazy”, but on good days it is the perfect eyebrow shade. In Jan. it was just divine! I pair it up with Rimmel, which is actually an HG eyebrow pencil. It never fails. I fill in the brows with MUFE, and then I line my brows with the pencil.

Eyeliner : Burberry Eye Definer Golden Brown #6
I got this after hearing about it from Miss Viviannadoesmakeup (on youtube) and she was right on the nose about this… it’s the perfect liner for us girls who are not too  crazy about heavy dark/black smokey eyeliner look.

Mascara: Covergirl’s Lashblast Fusion waterproof version
HG mascara! LOVE it…This has been a long search, and this is MY HG mascara!

Multipurpose : MAC’s Select Coverup concealer and NARS Coconut Grove Eyeshadow
Multipurpose indeed. Mac’s select coverup is used to contour and highlight my eyebrows, as well as highlight other areas on my face and conceal on days when I do not need all that extra coverage.
Nars eyeshadow is used to fill in brows and set my eyeliner.

and finally…

Miscellaneous : MAC’s Brush Cleaner
Favorite thing in the world. It just helps me clean my brushes in between the deep cleaning. I am on my second bottle…I do wish they made a smaller/travel friendly size!!!
